Eulalie: Donna Stewart & Ron Andrico

Heartfelt, vintage harmonies. True blue.

EULALIE is an old-time duo from Cleveland, Ohio and Stokes County, NC. They live and breathe heartfelt American roots music: vintage heart songs, fiddle tunes, old-time hymns, ballads, and country blues.

Stark, sweetly sentimental, or just plain fun, these old songs tell stories of people's lives. Ron & Donna treat these treasures with the love and respect of honest, straightforward arrangements inspired by the old masters of porches, parlors, chicken coops and vaudeville stages.

With close, intertwining vocal harmonies and  a song-centered approach, their arrangements featuring banjo, guitar and fiddle honor original sources while giving each performance an intimate, contemporary immediacy. The warm, approachable style of Eulalie's performances and recordings move deftly from country blues to traditional ballads; from old-time hymns to heart-songs and ragtime...always favoring emotional honesty over irony.

Eulalie's recordings, including the 2025 album “Porch Music” and their 2020 collection “Heart-songs,” revisit overlooked songs and tunes from hymnals, broadsides, and early popular sheet music and restore the music to the small venues, porches, and parlors where it was originally heard. Ideal for listening rooms, folk festivals, acoustic series. Eulalie offers audiences an emotional, quietly powerful experience where voices, stories, songs and tunes all merge to create magic.

About Ron Andrico

A founding member of the Portland Folklore Society, Ron Andrico was a driving force behind Portland, Oregon's now burgeoning square dance scene as early as 1977. Renowned as a rock-solid banjo player, tapes of his playing with legendary fiddler Jonathan Bekoff have circulated for many years, serving as a standard resource of fiddle-banjo repertory for countless old-time and folk musicians.

Andrico learned from and performed with several icons of traditional music including John Jackson, Andy Cohen, and the human encyclopedia of fiddle tunes, Kerry Blech.

About Donna Stewart

Known for awakening modern audiences to an appreciation of historical music, internationally acclaimed singer Donna Stewart is celebrated for the warm tone and crystalline delivery of texts which has won awards and praise from audiences and critics across the globe.

One British critic writes: "Stewart is simply astonishing. Conversational, dramatic, or elegiac as the lyrics dictate, never out of balance with her accompanist, she decorates and varies as naturally as a sean nos singer, with perfect diction and a real concern to communicate the meaning of the words.”

Porch Music (2025)

A spirited, front-porch ramble through songs that have lived in our voices and memories for years. Porch Music weaves together parlor songs, hymns, country blues, children’s tunes, and a dash of vaudeville—music that might easily be heard drifting from a cabin porch in the woods of upstate New York, where the cover photo was taken. Rather than follow a strict concept, it offers a personal, carefully curated set of arrangements ranging from turn-of-the-20th-century sentimental favorites to mid-century gospel and country blues, rendered for intimate, acoustic performance and meant for listeners young and old.

Heart-songs (2020)

Heart-Songs is an intimate meeting of minds between two musicians from very different musical worlds, united by a shared devotion to songs that speak honestly to ordinary lives. Drawing from the rich legacy of 19th & 20th century parlor songs and ballads, this album explores music that once carried families through hard times, including at least one song born in the shadow of the last Great Depression. Inspired by the 1909 collection Heart Songs, which celebrated songs that voiced “the pleasure and pain, the love and longing, the despair and delight, the sorrow and resignation, and the consolation of the plain people,” this album offers heartfelt tunes that speak directly to the listener’s heart.
